Mind in the Gutter

Justin and I (and a large group from JonFund drove up to Mass for the April off roading trip near Yankee Candle.

Although the weather was decent earlier in the day (not nice like a few days before when it was in the 70’s though), it started raining shortly before lunch, and continued through the day. Even with the poor weather we all had fun (I believe).

My Jeep continues to handle the trails pretty well, a slight misstep created a situation where my front and rear diffs were hung up, and a large boulder got wedged behind one of my front wheels (also resting up against a front caliper rendering my brakes inoperative). A little help from Justin freed me and I was back on my way.

I did need a little spotting in a few places, but otherwise got through some of the tough stuff unfazed.

Justin proceeded to beat on his CJ, banging it and scraping it up the hardest areas showing the rest of us how it’s done. His ambitious attempts at climbing a rock shelf was inspiring (and probably had many of us thinking that he’s a little crazy behind the wheel of his Jeep).

In the end, it was a good day of off roading, and I left with a lust for doing more of this (and a shopping list of parts that I need to purchase for the Jeep).
