General Jeep Amusement (Part II)

Saturday morning I woke up feeling tired, I always hate it when I can’t sleep in my own bed. After mulling around the camp we got prepped for heading out on our respective trips. I opted to take the “easy” trail, and Justin took the harder trail. I had a pretty easy time with the easy trail, we got back to the camp site about noon, and I was still feeling that I wanted to go out.

Justin and the more ambitious vehicles returned about 30 minutes later. After a short lunch, and an hour spent working on fixing Justin’s CJ (he twisted an axle and chewed up his centering pin on one of his springs), I decided to follow the group heading back out to the hard area.

I think I was the only non-trailered vehicle to attempt this trail, and I know for certain I was the only longer wheelbase vehicle to attempt it (everyone else was shorter CJs or Wranglers). A little help in a few spots (including some excellent rock stacking and spotting by Justin), not only got me from start to finish, but with very little bumping or grinding. That’s not to say that the trail was easy, it was very challenging, but quite a bit of fun as well.

Saturday night was fairly uneventful (Justin brought his PS2 so he kicked my butt at Guitar Hero for an hour or so).

Sunday, I didn’t want to push my luck, so I left my Cherokee at the camp site and rode with Justin as he took to the trail for the third time. We played around for a few hours before heading back to the camp site to finish packing up and then drove home.

All said, it was a good time. I’m already looking forward to next year when I can take on the harder stuff without so much fear.
