My Taste Can't Be That Bad

Posted: November 28, 2007 in General, Movies/TV/Music

I received an email from today advertising that they have a list of the top 100 albums of 2007 on their site (one list selected by users and one by critics). I was a little surprised that I only own one single album of those listed (and I really didn’t enjoy the album).

That’s not to say that I don’t buy music. I do… a lot of music (by some measure). I bought more than 40 albums this year, now granted only 13 of those were actually released in 2007. I’m not purchasing some esoteric form of music. I’m a fan of (what I would consider) pretty main stream rock. Some of the artists that I bought: Vast, Saliva, Ozzy, Good Charlotte, Fuel, and BNL. Most of those artists didn’t even produce anything that great. There are many albums that are real stand-outs from artists that just aren’t on the “popular” radar, artists like Hurt and Moses Mayfield (not to mention the several artists that released stuff before 2007 that I’ve only just discovered).

Maybe it’s just that I’m getting old, it was bound to happen. Oh.. and the album that I do own that was on the lists? Maroon 5, too bad it really wasn’t very good.
