Life updates

Blogging is such a pain. Shit happens in my life and I kinda, sort-of want to blog about it… but I don’t. Mostly because I’m lazy. Then the guilt comes in. Guilt that I can’t get off my ass and write a simple blog post.

So where does that leave me? Well with one of these “catch all” posts. Kind of a bookmark in my life, so that when I actually read this again in five years (hi me!), I’ll have something approaching a fond memory of this period of time in my life.

So the big news is that Cara is pregnant. Today we went to Six Flags with her father and told him. This was the last of the major familial announcements that we needed to make (we told my parents and her mom last weekend). The nice thing is that this is starting to feel real, not scary real, but just factually true… this is going to happen. I’m ok with that, it was going to happen sooner or later, and later was looking worse and worse.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not dreading this or unexcited, but more just… starting to accept it. Cara knows me well, she said today that I’m excited in my own way, which is true. Things will be different from here on out.

A few other interesting things of note have happened in the past few weeks/months. Our pool party went off without a hitch for the most part. Greg and Justin couldn’t make it because of baby and hiking (respectively), and there were a number of babies that attended which changed the mood of the party a bit. All said, it was subdued, but fun.

Justin’s first major iPhone app launched to a great start and things are looking particularly bright. He has a number of opportunities that are potentially opening for him, so all of us in that circle of friends are hoping for the best.

Our living room/dining room project is not nearly complete, but good enough to host a party in. We still have a few weeks of serious work to button up all the details, but it really does look really great.

With all this sunshine in my life, there was bound to be some rain. Last Friday we had a going away party for Mark and April. They are moving to Louisiana and won’t be around as often as we would all like. We all wish them well, but it’s going to suck that they’re not going to be around. Mark was a vital part of the band, so we’re going to see how that affects us.

  1. Nate says:

Dude, congrats to you and Cara! Was this planned? Stuff sure is going to change! Hope all stays well for you and your new family.
